An update!

Hi ALL!

Just realised that Branson has actually updated this site, adding links of the blogs of our 20th batch ODACians. I didn't do that previously because I wasn't sure if everyone is comfortable with placing their links here. But anyway, thanks Branson! (:

Some stuff to update over here:

1. Please feel free to come up with nice banners for this site! (Saw from the tagboard that GuiHong is doing Photoshop, so perhaps can come up with a niceR banner? Uhm 20th Publicity I.C. here don't know how to use Photoshop to create nice images, so help is greatly appreciated! :P ).

2. Our VP YuanLin has organised a chalet from 11-13 Dec! Invitation has been sent using FB, hope nobody is left out because she did it in quite a rush. Perhaps I shall leave her to update us more on this space? (: Link below:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=171332040846&ref=mf

3. I was thinking us ODACians could go for marathons together! I've found a SGrunners Group on FB that has a list of all the upcoming marathons in SG. Perhaps some of us interested ones could form groups to go together? (: Link below:

Bringing Life to a Lifeless Community

Just found out that I can access the 20th ODAC blog.

Anyways, just wanna post something short here since there ISN'T ANYTHING to update. (Perhaps Yuan Lin can blog about the mini odac outing in september?)

20th ODAC has been quite dead and some of us has been out of contact with each other(or so I feel). We also can't really meet very often as our hectic schedule makes it very hard for us to find a suitable date. As such, as times goes by, we lose track of how each one of us are doing and sooner or later, we'll lose each other as friends. So I thought about an idea of how we can update each other (as a whole group) of how we are doing right now. Each one of us will post an entry on how they have been doing since the end of A levels e.g. school, work, army etc. And since I came up with this idea, lets start of with my life.

Ever since A levels ended, I took up a job as a Customer Service Assistant (CSA)for SMRT and worked there for 3 months till my 'calling' aka army. Working as a CSA was rather slack as it was a brainless job and all you need to do is help customers as well as look out for their safety. Working at SMRT was an experience as you get to see the different sides of Singaporeans each day.

In April, I enlisted in BMT in Ulysses Company. It was a gruelling 9 weeks of army hell for me as I wasn't really prepared for the physical rigours army had in store for us recruits. POPed in June feeling happy as I thought that the days of a 'chao recruit' had ended and a better life of a Private awaits me.

I got posted into 30th Singpore Combat Engineers (30 SCE) and boy was it hell in there. Thankfully when I posted in, 30 SCE was in charge of NDP 2009 and hence we pushed back our trainings for 2 months to help pack NDP funpacks. It was a boring experience as day in and out, we packed hundreds of thousands of funpacks from morning till night and we had to help out on all the NDP shows from CR3 all the way to NDP itself.

When NDP ended, our training kicked in and boy was it tough. I can't really explain much here and army stuff are always 'sensitive'. But in the jist of it, being an engineer means you're the ultimate sai-kang warrior. Even though you get to do cool stuff like blowing things up, we ladened with countless of stores and sai kangs.

So yeah, that's what I've been through since A levels ended. Well, to end it off, I wanna wish a very good luck for those taking their A levels (Chun Wei, Jia Wen, Nadia, Jung Yi)this year!

Hope that you guys will contribute to this blog soon. Access to this blog can be granted through Wan Chin and I.

Cheers

Branson.

A short message.

Apologies for the late set-up of the 20th batch site.

Our previous site (srjcodac.org), which was supposed to be passed down to the next batches, was taken down because of the high cost required to maintain it. Seeing that all other batches (since the 18th) actually have a designated batch site, I thought I shall create 1 as well.

However, I didn't have time to complete the whole site due to the many things on hand. So it dragged for so long... & it's almost half a year gone after we graduated. Apologies!

Please feel free to comment or send an email to 20th.odac@gmail.com if you have any suggestions(to further improve the site or post any events or something!).

Hope this site will be a good portal for all of us, to post any events etc! (:

From your friendly 20th Publicity I.C. (:
